In an unanimous vote last night the common council approved a Purchase and Development Agreement bringing Simply Incredible Foods and 50+ jobs to Menasha, and avoiding costs to city taxpayers for environmental cleanup and demolition. Aeris Energy will acquire the City's former power plant on River Street assuming responsibility for asbestos abatement, environmental risk, and renovations (including removal of the smokestack and baghouse) to convert the building to a food processing plant for Simply Incredible Foods. The sale of the facility places the property back on the tax rolls for the first time in well over 50 years as well as creating a new customer for the City's electric and water utilities. It is estimated that the total economic impact of the conversion will be $25.7 million to the local economy.

The proposed Simply Incredible Foods facility continues and complements the industrial heritage of Menasha being the new neighbor to Whiting Paper, Coveris, and Sonoco.

Simply Incredible foods was an early beneficiary of the WisconsinSuper Angel Fund LP, which launched in March of 2013 receiving a $400,000 investment from the fund. The company has developed a patented process for removing the acid from cranberries, eliminating the bitterness and making them taste sweeter. Founded in 2008 by Jonathan D. Smith, Simply Incredible Foods recently introduced a new, low-acid product called Cransations with only 10 grams of sugar compared with 29 grams in Craisins. The product can be eaten fresh or used for baking and cooking.
Menasha welcomes this innovative growing company to our community. We look forward to working with them as an important part of our city.
