The city of Menasha and Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue is pleased to announce the groundbreaking ceremony for our new fire Manitowoc Rd Fire Station #36.

The $1.3 million project is primarily funded through an Assistance to Firefighter’s Grant - Station Construction Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA and will allow the relocation of the Airport Road fire station. Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue was the only Wisconsin fire department to receive funding of the 104 grants announced. The new station will continue the city’s efforts to become more energy efficient with LEED designation.

The Airport Road station, built in 1963, has served the community well; however, it has long surpassed its life expectancy. Most importantly, as the city has grown, the station is no longer in the right location to provide equalized response times for the entire community.

Please join us on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 12:15 p.m. at the corner of Province Terrace and Manitowoc Road in the City of Menasha.

The project, which has been put on hold since 2005 because of budget constraints, will be completed in early spring of 2011, at which time the current station will be closed.
