Summer Starts Here! Is the slogan, and it was quite the way to kick off summer in downtown Menasha. The second annual Sunrunner is part of the revitalization of downtown Menasha showcasing new creative businesses and the kick-off for special community events like Gallery Walks and the Farm Fresh Market each Thursday night throughout the summer.

Why call it Sunrunner without a run we were asked over and over? For 2010 we had to create a run but it couldn't be just any run so we created the sundress run. We had a lot of fun watching the daring souls who sprinted down Main Street, in their finest sundresses. Women, children, pets and YES, even men strutted their finest summer florals. Earlier int the day plasma car races proved to be a kids (or kids at heart) favorite.

The Sunrunner car show attracted around 150 classics from around the state with the most creative trophies made of auto parts you have ever seen. Concluding at 3:00 with a horsepower parade unlike you've seen before. Summer is all about the water, so we included in the show classic wood framed boats and some of the finest water gear. The Lakeside Spirit was here to get you out on the water again in style for a cruise out to lake Winnebago.

What would a summer festival be without music? We were proud to present a great lineup of both local and regional bands. Our headliner, ARRA, has been one of the best and largest drawing classic rock cover bands in the Chicagoland area for the past 2 decades performing the biggest hits by the biggest bands of all times. The Snowbirds, Dale Anderson & the Delta Jets, The JJ Trio, and Define Tension rounded out the afternoon.

Thousands thought it was a great way to start their summer, hopefully you were among the group, if not mark June 18th 2011 on your calendar to check it out next year.
